Clip frame quality going down, down, down
I've bought these from Hobby Lobby over several years (I have one wall covered with them) and I've watched the quality going down year after year. The first things to go were the straightness of the glass edges (which are now more often than not slightly over-ground at the long ends - in other words, if you place a ruler up against a long edge, in the plane of the glass, you'll probably see a gap between the ruler and the glass over the last inch or half-inch, at one or two corners) and the quality of the glass edges (I used to find an obvious chip on an edge in maybe 1 in 10 frames; now it's more like 5 out of 6). Secondly some Chinese genius has redesigned the clips so that they fall out easily - now I have to hand-file a bevel in the backing-board to prevent them from popping out. True, Hobby Lobby has never refused to replace one f.o.c. or refund my money, but I've wasted so much gas and time on this that I've just given up and looked elsewhere. This is what you get when US jobs are shipped off to China; lousy - and declining! - quality. My advice; open it and inspect it - in good lighting - before you leave the store! (Most of the glass edges is obscured by the packaging.) And buy a flat "needle file"!
