great pencils

Very intense color. They are great for under washes for watercolor as the colors don't lift when you re-wet the paper.

That said, once the color dries, it cannot be re-lifted off the paper like watercolor.

These are also as versatile as watercolor pencils in that you can use them like a pencil, or wet the paper then apply the pencils to it, or simply pull color directly from the point with a brush.

Now I just wish that Hobby Lobby carried the larger set of these, even if you just carried it on the website. I love my set of 12 so much I went out and purchased the bigger set.

Intense Color

These are a wonderful drawing pencil with rich color used as they are. But add a wash of water and they really blossom into vibrant ink colors. They are translucent and when dry can be worked over with other media without fear of smudging. I have used these pencils on many types of media-paper, fabric, canvas, etc.Derwent by the way is NOT owned by Daler-Rowney. They are two separate and competing companies based in the UK.

clarifying item description

These ARE pencils, not "ink" pencils. The have a much stronger pigment than the regular Derwents (which are not as highly pigmented as some other brands to begin with) so are called "INKtense". Also, unless there has been a merger or something, Daler-Rowney, which makes the Derwent line, would probably not appreciate someone describing the "style" of this product as "Winsor-Newton" (??)

International Delivery

We do not accept International orders online.

To place an order with an International billing or shipping address:

You will need to order by calling 405-745-1275. Customer Service is available Monday - Friday 8:30-5:00 CST.

Your order will need to ship to a US Destination, such as a freight forwarder. By doing so your order will be eligible for our US shipping rates which often include free shipping.

If you would like for us to ship your order directly to you, you will be charged the actual postage amount. That amount is calculated once your order is picked, packed and ready to ship. International shipping address are excluded from all shipping discounts. All orders shipped to an International location are charged the actual cost of shipping.

Please note that this policy does not include Military Addresses, Guam, Puerto Rico & the US Virgin Islands. We will accept and ship orders to these destinations.

Return Policy

Hobby Lobby Stores cannot accept returns for purchases made online.
If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase you may return your item(s) to us within 30 days.
Items returned must be in sellable condition. Opened or used merchandise can not be returned.
If you have received damaged, broken, or defective merchandise please contact Customer Service at 1-800-888-0321 Ext 1275 before returning the item(s).
Please allow up to 2 weeks for your return to be processed and credit issued.
You will receive a refund for the purchase price of the item and applicable sales tax. Credit will be issued to the credit card used at the time of purchase.
Shipping and handling charges will not be credited unless the reason for the return is our error.
