I am an expert in needle felting and I want to give my two cents. Felting needles come in many sizes. These must be really thin. Don't throw away the tool just because the needles break. Just replace them with heavier needles. ALWAYS use the tool straight up and down, and don't try to push too many fibers in at one time. Build your project up a little bit at a time. Needle felting is a lot of fun. Other felting tool needles break when my students hold the tool like a pen. It isn't the tool but the operator and the thinness of the needles. Change the needles to size 32 to 36 and you'll be fine.
